More Information- Rough start: Maxima faced huge criticism at the beginning of her relationship to Willem Alexander because her father used to be a minister under the Videla dictatorship in Argentina. He was therefore not allowed to attend his daughter’s wedding. She was willing to pay that price in order to marry the man she loves.
- Maxima embraced her new role as Crown Princess right from the start and learned to speak Dutch very quickly.

More Information- Their’s is one of the most romantic love stories of all time: The Crown Prince of Norway falls helplessly in love with a young single mother on a music festival somewhere in Norway.
- She, Mette-Marit, is incredibly beautiful, but comes with a past: She has had tried drugs and has not really worked in steady jobs when she met Haakon. On top of that, her father was married to a stripper and her son’s father had a police record for drunk driving, possession of cocaine and violence.
- Nothing really mattered for these two: After having dated for one year, they decided to tie the knot. And the most beautiful part was that Norway’s King and Queen gave their consent to this unconventional marriage knowing full well that this would be snubbed at by almost all their European royal counterparts.
- Love knows no bounds and up to this day Haakon and Mette-Marit are clearly in love with each other. In fact, these two show their love for each other like no other royal couple, kissing and hugging in public with no care in the world for any cameras luring around them.
- Both have defied all odds so far and have raised three extremely cool children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra (17) , Prince Sverre Magnus (15) and Marius Borg Hoiby (24, of Mette-Marit’s former relationship.)

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel
- Victoria and Daniel rank on top because they had to overcome the biggest obstacles to finally get married AND because they ooze love whenever they appear in public. This doesn’t mean that they are all over each other, but it’s the small tender gestures that gives away their profound love for each other 🙂
- Daniel was initially not really accepted because he was neither aristocratic, rich or academic.
- Their courtship took a whooping 9 years! It took that many years to convince the King and Queen as well as the public that Daniel would be up to the task to support Victoria in her duties as future Queen of Sweden.
- But there were also medical obstacles as well: Daniel received a kidney transplant from his father which spraked even more concern for Daniel’s fitness. But Daniel quickly recovered and both were more than ever willing to tie the knot.
- Time proved to be their best friend to mute their fiercest critics! Upon her wedding day, Victoria addressed the cheering crown in front of Drottningholm Castle and thanked the public for allowing her to marry “min prins”.
- In contrast to her father, Victoria is not afraid to show her affection towards her husband in public. One of her sweetest gestures is her frequently kissing Daniel’s hands.
- Daniel and Victoria are incredibly supportive of each other and both are hands-on parents to Princess Estelle (8) and Prince Oscar (4).
- BTW: Daniel and Victoria probably share one of the most romatic royal love stories of all times: While Victoria needed to be abroad for 30 days, she wrote 30 love letters to Daniel, one for each day she could not be at his side. Wow! How romatic is that?
