Yesterday, on April 9 the Palace has announced that His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh has peacefully died in his sleep. The Queen was at his side when Philip passed away aged 99.

Mourning

The world and especially Britain is mourning Prince Philip’s death as he has been a steady rock for many decades at the Queen’s side. Both were married for 73 years and the Queen thanked Prince Philip with those warm words:

“He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would claim, or we shall ever know.”
