Today, the royal family and the world bid farewell to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. In a moving ceremony, which was planned by the Duke himself, he was laid to rest in the vault of St. George’s chapel in Windsor Castle. Prince Philip died on April 9, 2021 in Windsor Castle aged 99. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, allegedly with the Queen at his side.
See here the photographs of the funeral today. I must say; I was really moved by the Queen sitting all by herself in St. George’s chapel. She was, after all, married to Prince Philip for 73 years. He was at her side most of her life and took it as his first and foremost priority to support and protect her.
The Guest List
Due to this seemingly never ending corona pandemic, the guest list for the church service was limited to 30 people. All guests were required to wear masks and sit apart from from each other. It was important for Prince Philip to have family members from his extended German family present. Hence the Princes of Baden, Hesse and Hohenlohe-Langenburg were also invited. Here is the complete guest list:

Plans

Military setting
As already mentioned, Prince Philip did most of the planning by himself. As a highly decorated war veteran, the funeral was set to have a military setting. Not only all British regiments were represented, but also high military representatives from the Commonwealth paid their respects to Prince Philip, whom they regarded as one of their own.
